My friend Dana, over at Mombian, sent me a lovely article by Helen Boyd, called “When my husband became a woman, I realized I was a sexist” (Boyd has a really smart blog too, enGender). Reading her article motivated me to write something I’ve been mulling over for weeks now (since we started the blog really) and that is my own evolving views of the transgendered.

According to this article on CNN’s website, “The American Psychological Association concluded Wednesday that there is little evidence that efforts to change a person’s sexual orientation from gay or lesbian to heterosexual are effective.” The article itself points out that the APA has not considered homosexuality a mental illness since 1975, but apparently a task force was formed two years ago because of the rise of so-called conversion therapy. Obviously, this is good news, even if many of us will feel it falls under the heading of “duh.”
